چکیده
We report on Westerbork 840 MHz, 1.4 and 5 GHz radio observations of the improved IPN–WFC error box of the γ-ray burst GRB 970111, between 26.4 hours and 120 days after the event onset. In the ∼ 13 sq arcmin area defined by the IPN (BATSE and Ulysses) annulus and the published refined BeppoSAX Wide Field Camera (WFC) error box we detected no steady sources brighter than 0.56 mJy (4σ), and no varying radio emission, down to 1.0 mJy (4σ). We also report on B, V, R and I band observations of the error box with the 4.2 m William Herschel Telescope at La Palma.

B, V and R optical photometry performed on the field of the GRB 970111 soon after its detection by BeppoSAX is presented. No remarkable optical object is found inside the corrected error box. The optical counterpart of an X–ray and radio source and a suspected red variable (probably an eclipsing binary) have been detected inside the field of GRB 970111.

We present the R and V light curves of the optical counterpart of GRB 970228. A critical analysis of all the available data is made in light of the results achieved in the recent GRB Symposium held in Huntsville and by considering the latest information from the HST images on the underlying nebulosity.

We review some of the recent advances in nonlinear pulsation theory, but also insist on some of the major extant shortcomings.

We report on the very early time search for an optical afterglow from GRB 971227 with the Livermore Optical Transient Imaging System (LOTIS). LOTIS began imaging the ‘Original’ BATSE error box of GRB 971227 ∼ 14 s after the onset of gamma-ray emission. Continuous monitoring of the position throughout the evening yielded a total of 499 images (10 s integration). Analysis of these images revealed...

GRB 970815 was a well-localized gamma-ray burst (GRB) detected by the All-Sky Monitor (ASM) on the Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) for which no afterglow was identified despite follow-up ASCA and ROSAT pointings and optical imaging to limiting magnitude R > 23. While an X-ray source, AX/RX J1606.8+8130, was detected just outside the ASM error box, it was never associated with the GRB because...
